Rabbi Ari Moffic

Rabbi Ari (or ‘Ari’ as she prefers) is a Rabbi-Educator who prides herself on creatively working as a partner with families to inspire learners of all ages and backgrounds to incorporate Judaism into their lives in meaningful and grounding ways.

She is known throughout the Chicago area for having served as Founder of CoHere Chicago as well as Rabbi-Educator positions at Interfaith Family/Chicago, Congregation Sukkat Shalom, Wilmette, and Beth Tikvah Congregation, Hoffman Estates.

“I am passionate about having Jewish learning be fun, relevant, easy to access and challenging in a good way to our minds,” Rabbi Ari said. “I like to think of creative ways for people of all ages to learn more about Judaism and love to see their excitement at realizing how amazing, deep and layered Judaism is.”

“I aim for us to use Jewish teachings to inspire us to be better people and to make our world a better place.”

Janice Hadesman

Janice Hadesman grew up at Temple Beth-El and began working as a teacher in 1993. In time her responsibilities increased as she became Family Life Director, Director of Family and Congregational Life and now she begins her 9th year as the Executive Director. Janice assists the Board of Directors and Clergy in creation of polices, visions and goals as well as the coordination of Temple programming.

As Executive Director, she is responsible for many aspects in the daily life of the congregation. She works in collaboration with the clergy, staff and lay leadership on areas such as new member recruitment, integration and participation, marketing and public relations, staff supervision and management, facilities oversight and fundraising.

Janice graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. In 2005 she graduated from The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School for Educators. She is the recipient of the Faye & Haskell Lurie Award for excellence in teaching and is presently a member of the Chicago Association for Synagogue Administration.

Janice believes, “Working at Temple Beth -El feels as if I’m helping my family, not only because I grew up at Temple Beth-El but because it is truly the definition of a warm and friendly community. I am so thankful and blessed to have made so many connections and close friends at TBE." 

Janice resides in Northbrook with her husband Howard. They have two daughters, Lisa (married to Josh Dorfman and their children, Noah and Audrey) and Amy.  Both Lisa and Amy attended Kindergarten through Confirmation at Temple Beth-El. Janice is now so proud to watch her grandchildren begin the same path at TBE.

Nancy Reil

Accounting Manager

Nancy is responsible for managing the accounting needs of Temple Beth-El.  She  has brought a tremendous amount of experience to TBE having worked for Pioneer Press, publisher of 30+ suburban newspapers, for 31 years.

In Nancy’s last position at Pioneer Press she was Chief Financial Officer overseeing the Accounting, Credit and Payroll staff in addition to doing the financial reporting.  She was responsible for converting 500 employees to a new payroll software system.  In addition, Nancy served on the Board of the Pioneer Press Charitable Foundation.

Nancy finds her role at TBE both challenging and fulfilling. “I am fortunate to speak with our wonderful congregants in responding to their needs,” she said. Nancy is a long-time member of Temple Beth-El with her husband, Jay, who has been very active in leadership throughout the years.

Holly Hamburg

Membership Engagement Assistant

Holly serves as the Membership Engagement Assistant for Temple Beth-El and supports the Executive Director and Membership Vice President in growing the congregation by developing prospective member initiatives that attract new members and engage and retain existing members.

Holly comes to Temple Beth-El with over 20 years of marketing, communications and special events experience and is delighted to be part of the Temple Beth-El family.

A native of Boston, MA, Holly currently resides in Northbrook with her husband Phil and two sons, Jake and Adam.

Shaina Farwell

Education & Communications Coordinator

Shaina assists the Director of Congregational Learning with all administrative duties related to the school.  She has built wonderful relationships with the parents, students and teachers and is ready to answer any questions they may have. 

Shaina also assists the Executive Director with various projects. She creates the weekly eblasts, promotes Temple’s events, and updates the TBE website. She also creates the monthly Temple Bulletin, weekly “Shabbat Shalom” booklets, and promotional materials for events and programs. 

Shaina comes from a musical background and has worked in non-profit arts administration for over 10 years. She is thrilled to be a part of the Temple Beth-El family.
