Our Caring Community — B’yachad

B’yachad is a Hebrew word meaning “together”. The purpose of this program is to provide assistance to our congregants in times of need and to make our Temple a place that we can all turn to for support.

With the help of many very special individuals, this committee has accomplished those goals and more. B’yachad has given comfort and aid to many in our congregation who were experiencing extremely difficult times in their lives. We continually strive to add more services to our program and would welcome your involvement. The commitment is minimal but the effects of your efforts will be forever felt by you and the people whose lives you have touched.

Please volunteer your assistance in any of the following ways:

Here’s what you can do:

  • Telephone congregants who are ill, have had surgery, or who have experienced a death in the family.
  • Visit ill or homebound congregants.
  • Transport congregants to medical appointment or doing errands/shopping.
  • Participate or leading a minyon at a shiva house in your geographic area.
  • Provide a meal for congregant or family during acute illness or crisis.
  • Correspond through cards and letters to congregants who are ill, bereaved, or experiencing very stressful circumstances.
  • Pick up and deliver groceries
  • Drop off a Challah and get well card on Shabbat for those who are ill and homebound

If you have any areas of expertise that you would be willing to offer as a resource for B’yachad, please share that information or for more information, please contact Holly Hamburg at hhamburg@templebeth-el.org.
