Additional Programs
In addition to classroom instruction, Temple Beth-El provides a wide array of programs through weekend retreats, family partnerships and a variety of holiday celebrations and special events to round out the educational experience.
Here are just a few examples of such programs:
Shabbat Yeladim
Yeladim means children. This is our Tot Service for ages 7 and under (older siblings are welcome). The evening begins at 5:30 PM with complimentary dinner followed by a 6:00 PM age-appropriate service filled with singing, a story and basic prayers. The evening concludes with a craft and oneg so families can enjoy each other and be home in time for bedtime. This program typically is held the first Friday of the month, but please check our calendar.
Family Shabbat Service
This is a spirited service! Monthly family friendly Friday night services feature a story instead of a sermon and engaging music so children can participate in fun ways. Religious School grades are assigned one service a year and those children are featured that month.
Family Learning, Services and More
- Yearly grade level family education programs (Family Learning Days) allow parents and children the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning highlighting one aspect of the curriculum
- Family High Holiday Services and family celebrations on Sukkot, Simchat Torah, and Purim.
- Yearly inter-generational retreat at OSRUI, the regional Reform movement camp.
Children’s Library
The Children’s Library is a wonderful place for children to find Jewish books and materials. Children are encouraged to borrow books for up to a two-week period. The library is open during school, and when the building is open. Consider buying a Birthday Book for your child's birthday which features a special nameplate that will recognize your child for years to come. Please return books by the end of each school year.
School Special Events
Some of the special life-cycle moments we celebrate as a school community are: Consecration when new students are welcomed to Jewish learning and Confirmation in high school.
