What a blessing it is to live in Chicago, a community where Jewish life is blossoming all around us. What
a blessing it is to be a part of a strong, diverse community filled with Jewish scholars, rabbis and
teachers. Isn’t it a shame that we never seem to have the time to take advantage of learning with the
brilliant people who live amongst us? Well, now is the time to change that.
We are proud to host the North Shore Fellowship of Rabbis Study Institute bringing together rabbis and
scholars from congregations all across the North Shore. This is your opportunity to learn from a rabbi
down the block or across town. This is your chance to take a class with a friend from another
congregation. Please check the Temple Bulletin in late fall/early winter for more details, but mark your
calendars now!
The Dawn R. Schuman Institute
The Dawn R. Schuman Institute of the Community Foundation for Jewish Education is devoted to adult
Jewish learning. They offer classes in a variety of Jewish subjects, serve as a resource center for
speakers and programs, present a Young Scholar Lecture Series, and host world-wide educational
speakers. For details on programming, call the Institute at 847.410.3900 or check their website
www.dawnschuman.org. Refer to the Temple Bulletin for special classes.
The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School
Together with local synagogues (like Temple Beth-El), the Community Foundation for Jewish Education coordinates an innovative two-year program consisting of 30 weekly two-hour classes each year. The
Melton school encourages students to increase participation in Jewish life through systematically
planned lessons exploring many aspects of Judaism, and extra-curricular activities including holiday
workshops and celebrations, guest lecturers and field trips. For more information about The Florence
Melton Adult Mini-School, call Keith Kanter at 847.410.3900.
