Sisterhood

Temple Beth-El Sisterhood is a place to find friendship, warmth, sharing, and make new connections to the women of our congregation. We provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, and fulfillment in a Jewish atmosphere, through social and learning experiences.

Sisterhood supports the Temple community through volunteerism, leadership, and financial assistance. Your dues help the Sisterhood support its many programs and charitable giving throughout the year. The Sisterhood annually supports all Temple fundraising programs, Religious School, and provides scholarships to our youth for camp programs at OSRUI and other Jewish Programs.  We strongly encourage all women to join the Sisterhood.

We offer a wide range of activities each year. Highlights include our annual White Elephant Dinner and Auction, a Member’s only appreciation program, Lilith Salon, Women's Seder, Game Night, and Sisterhood Shabbat; in addition to many other social and spiritual programs.

Sisterhood affiliation offers a worldwide identity through its membership in the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ); the Women's Affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism, which is the central body of Reform Judaism in North America. Established in 1913, WRJ is a federation of more than 550 Sisterhoods with 75,000 members throughout the U.S. and Canada. The WRJ is the collective voice and presence of women in congregational life, working to strengthen temples and communities, and ensuring the development and growth of Reform Judaism.  We are an active member in the WRJ Midwest District, and take part in the Midwest District Convention, WRJ Area Day and Leadership weekend held at OSRUI.

We hope you will consider joining us or rejoining Sisterhood this year.  Our programs and meetings are listed on the Temple calendar.  If you would like to be added to our mailing list, email us at tbesisters@gmail.com.   We look forward to seeing you soon.
